On Thursday 2nd October, Saltire Rare Malt brought a taste of Scotland to the French Quarter, hosting its final US launch event at the iconic Dickie Brennan & Co in New Orleans. At the centre of the evening’s celebration stood a cocktail that perfectly bridged our Scottish roots and American welcome: The Second Line.
Conceived by acclaimed mixologist Susie Bohnstengel, The Second Line is more than a cocktail — it’s a celebration. Inspired by New Orleans’ iconic parading tradition, the drink is named in honour of the joyous "second line" that follows behind the band. In Susie’s words: “Saltire is the first line, the whisky that leads. This cocktail is the party that follows.”
The Second Line
-
2 oz Saltire 14 Yr Single Malt Scotch
-
0.5 oz Drambuie
-
2 drops Peychaud’s Bitters
-
Toulouse Blue Rinse/Mist
-
Chilled Rocks Glass
-
Garnish: Lemon Twist
This richly layered serve introduces our signature single malt in a new context; Scotch whisky, elevated but never overwhelmed. It’s a bold first taste of Saltire’s US-exclusive collection: rare single cask releases, each chosen for character and bottled only when the time is right.
One sip, and you’ll understand why they call it a measure of time and taste.
