Tormore is a relatively young distillery, built by the American Schenley Corporation in 1958. The hired the then famous architect Sir Albert Richardson. The result is astonishing and nothing like your ‘usual’ distillery. The buildings are surrounded by a beautiful garden with hedges trimmed in the form of stills and an impressive fountain. For many years Pernod-Ricard was the proud owner and used 95% of the production for its blends, among which Chivas Regal. In 2022 Tormore was sold to Elixir Distillers, a company owned by Sukhinder Singh, a respected whisky expert and fellow inductee of the Whisky Hall of Fame. Nowadays, Tormore concentrates on bottling beautiful single malts.
